How Disney Honoured Cameron Boyce
One of the most known Disney Channel stars, Cameron Boyce, died on 6th July. Only 20 years old when he passed away. Days after his death it was confirmed it was because of epilepsy.
Cameron Boyce acted in several Disney series and movies. Mostly, he is known for his role as Luke Ross in Disney Channel's "Jessie", Conor in Disney XD's "Gamer's Guide To Pretty Much Everything", and Carlos in the DCOM movie series Descendants. Besides his acting, he voiced Jake in Disney Junior's "Jake and the Never Land Pirates". Cameron also starred in a movie called "Grown Ups" along with Adam Sandler.
Since Cameron Boyce's death, family, friends and fans have written messages and made videos to honour the star. Both Debby Ryan, Adam Sandler, the stars of the Descendants movies along with the director Kenny Ortega and many others have honoured him.
And not to mention Disney themselves. Disney all over the world has posted videos on their YouTube channels to honour Cameron. The first video posted by Disney was this video which is without sound but shows pictures of Cameron Boyce on the different sets where he had a role.
The death happened only a month before the Descendants 3 premiere. It was planned to hold a red carpet premiere event for Descendants 3 on 22nd July, but Disney Channel cancelled the event for Cameron. "We're proud to be part of Cameron Boyce's legacy by showcasing his talents on screen, but we are cancelled the red carpet premiere event for Descendants 3 (scheduled for July 22) and instead, The Walt Disney Company will make a donation to the Thirst Project, a philanthropic organization to which Cameron was deeply committed," Disney Channel said in a statement. "With permission from the Boyce family, Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of Descendants 3 in Cameron Boyce's memory," the network said. - Deadline.com
Disney Channel and Disney XD in Scandinavia honoured the star too in a perfect way.
On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July, Disney Channel aired 4 episodes of Jessie from 18:00-20:00 (the time of Denmark, Norway, Sweden). Before, after and in* the episodes Disney Channel aired different Descendants 1 and 2 music videos along with the video they've posted earlier in the week. The video featured sound and has a white memory board at the end saying "Cameron Boyce 1999-2019" and a red heart was above. The video's length was 45 seconds. A 5-second ident showing Cameron was also airing. A bug was created and used in the 8 episodes of Jessie.
From Monday 15th July to Friday 19th July, Disney XD aired Gamer's Guide To Pretty Much Everything at 17:30 (the time of Denmark, Sweden, Norway). Before the episodes, the 45-second video was shown, and the ident was shown right after the episode. Also, Disney XD had a bug for Cameron in these episodes.
*Some episodes in Scandinavia is currently airing with commercials in the middle.
Yesterday on 3rd August, Descendants 3 finally premiered in the United States. As many probably had hoped for, the movie was specially dedicated to Cameron Boyce. Even before and after the movie, Disney Channel aired something for Cameron. Disney Channel also posted a memory video to their YouTube channel with the title "For Cameron". See it here.
ABC News has also posted a video on their YouTube channel featuring Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart and Director Kenny Ortega where they share filming Descendants 3 and losing Cameron. You can watch it here.
